I thought things were going to be very easy for me to earn money there. I mean, the projects are there already for me to bid on them and I thought: "why should it be difficult for me to win freelance jobs there?" so I started bidding on projects.

Freelance projects get around 40 bids on average. This means that you are competing against other freelancers who also want to win or work on those same freelance jobs that you want!
"How can I beat so much competition?", I thought. I knew the only way I could truly be successful was if I marketed my technical skills in a better way than all those bidders out there but I didn't know how.
Things started slow for me, I started landing very small projects and I was always ignored by buyers when I bided on bigger projects. Getting Big Projects is Difficult if You Don't Know How To Market Your Skills Well The truth of the matter is that is difficult to get big projects starting from the very beginning if you don't know how to market your skills well and that's the story of anyone that has started working as a freelancer.

Freelancer definition (in case you still don't know): A computer-related freelancer is a person that is self-employed normally working from home doing technical jobs for employers or buyers who request them and getting paid in return. eg. Web developers, web designers, programmers, writers, etc... Why Some People Are Skeptical About Outsourcing Jobs Or Find It Risky? As a buyer or entrepreneur that requests projects from freelancers, your experience can be a very negative one specially if you have never hire a freelancer to work on your projects or if you have hired just a few.
I also have experience as a buyer and I have hired many freelancers to do work for me. I understand what it means to be a buyer and what you are looking for in a freelancer.
You want to feel happy, satisfied and confident that your project will be completed according to what you want and on time!
Many people are skeptical about choosing someone abroad to do a project for them. Luckly enough, freelance sites like RentACoder.com, Guru.com, and other's have made this process more safer by introducing the "escrow".
Escrow means you can put your funds on the freelance site, keep it there until your freelancer finishes the project and you only pay or release the funds from escrow if you are satisfied with the work that your freelancer did for you.
